During my early days studying at UBD, I used to watch movies with my buddies every once in a while. Never really finds it of much fun though, perhaps because I came from quite a remote place so I liked to go to remote places too.. Taking a long drive alone, getting lost sometimes.. (?) haha actually I got lost a lot back then, even now too, especially at the areas around town. But still, its fun though..
One of the movies that I can still remember is 'Warlords' which was starred by Jet Li, and played at the cinemas somewhere around 2007. A story of three sworn brothers who in the end killed each other, sacrificing themselves for what they think was right. Its not a story with a happy ending, and the saddest part is that nobody understood the sacrifices they've made, and everything seems useless.
We too are warlords of our own battle, here within ourselves. And we too are like that, arent we? There are times when we are faced with difficult situations, or times when we choosed to take 'the path that hurts more' so that others would suffer less pain. And there are times when we are being misunderstood, blamed, isolated for that.
Even now, as individuals who tries to become a good muslim as possible, we often got blamed too, for no longer mingling with friends of opposite sex, less hangouts and so on. When in fact we are trying to protect ourselves... and them too.
There are times when we need to stay away from from each other, just for the sake of protecting one another, and no matter how great is our desire to know what is happening 'over there, at the other side', we need to go on and stand strong. In the end, we can only hope that the sacrifices we've made worth it, not like in the movie Warlords, and no more scapegoats from our mistakes..
Just make sure that our intention is right though, that Allah swt is on the very top of the chain, no other.. If that's the case, we wouldnt care so much of the results, for Allah take in account our efforts, for He knows that we're weak..
Believe.., that these personal struggles will make us strong, or purify us. Verily, when I first heard of the three wounded companions of Rasulullah saw who refused to drink the water before the other two, until all three of them martyred, tears trickled through my cheeks. I missed them, I want to see them, too! May Allah grant me my du'as..
